GRADUATE STUDENT RESEARCH FORUMThe Northeastern Society of Periodontists (NESP) is pleased to announce its first annual Graduate Student Research Forum. All students enrolled in CODA accredited advanced education programs in periodontics located in the geographic region of the NESP are eligible for the competition. Abstracts must be received on-line* by the NESP Research Forum Committee (RFC) by September 30, 2008. The abstracts will be evaluated according to the originality of the problem and hypothesis, experimental design, data collection, analytical methods, interpretation, significance of results and validity of the conclusions. The three students with abstracts having the highest scores will be invited as finalists to present during the Research Forum at the beginning of the Scientific Session of the Fall Meeting of the NESP. Each finalist will be given 12 minutes each to present his/her paper with three additional minutes for questions and answers. The presentations will be evaluated by the RFC and the winners announced during the meeting’s luncheon. The first place winner will receive a $1,000 cash award and first place certificate. The two remaining finalists will each receive a $500 cash award and an honorable mention certificate. One night’s lodging at the meeting’s venue, the Marriott Marquis Hotel, will be provided by the NESP for the three finalists.This program is supported by an Educational Grant by Nobel Biocare who will also provide to the first place winner a full surgical set up kit.
